Year 6 Pilgrimage – A Journey of Reflection and Hope
As part of the Pilgrim Year of Hope, our Year 6 pupils took part in a very special pilgrimage walk — a day of thanksgiving, reflection, and transition. The pilgrimage also marked the centenary year of our parish church, St. Joseph’s.
The day began with a heartfelt gathering at St. Joseph’s Church, where we gave thanks for our time together as a class, our families, and our school community. Marking the church's 100th year, we paused to consider our hopes for the future — for ourselves, our loved ones, our classmates, and the world — especially as we prepare for the next chapter at secondary school.
We then journeyed to the Cenotaph, where we prayed the Rosary with gratitude for those who have given their lives in the service of others. In prayer, we asked Mary, Queen of Peace, to guide us in becoming peacemakers in our homes, school, and the wider world.
The pilgrimage continued to The Stray, where the children enjoyed time together, playing games and sharing a picnic in the shade. We then walked on to St. Robert’s Church to join the parish for midday Mass. During this special celebration, the congregation prayed for our Year 6 pupils. After Mass, each child lit a votive candle, offering a private intention to God as a final moment of reflection.
It was a day filled with faith, friendship, and hope — a powerful way to honour the past, cherish the present, and look forward with courage to the future.
