Singing for the Spirit: Our Pupils Take Part in BBC Radio 4 recording for Pentecost and the Jubilee Year

On Thursday 20th March, members of our school who sing with the Harrogate Catholic Junior Choir, part of our local Diocese’s after-school choir, had the incredible honour of representing the Church in a special BBC Radio 4 recording for Pentecost and the Jubilee Year.

The children spent the morning at the recording session, joining voices with others from across the Diocese. It was a moving and unforgettable experience – not only because of the powerful sound created by so many young voices singing in harmony, but also because of the deep sense of unity, faith, and purpose.

As well as singing joyfully and reverently, the children learned a lot about the recording process itself – from sound checks to retakes, and the importance of precision, patience, and perseverance in producing something truly special.

The Diocesan choir programme offers children a rich opportunity to grow both in musical skill and spiritual formation. Singing together in worship is a beautiful way for our pupils to express their faith and share their gifts with others.

We are incredibly proud of our young singers – not only for their musical talents but for the way they represented our school, the Diocese, and the wider Church. What a wonderful example of using God-given gifts for the glory of God and the joy of others!
