Lent at St. Joseph's - A Time for Prayer, Reflection, and Giving
As we enter the holy season of Lent, our school family is called to pray, reflect, and take action to help those in need. Lent is a time of preparation, leading us towards the celebration of Easter. Just as Jesus fasted for 40 days in the desert, we too are encouraged to sacrifice, serve, and show kindness to others.
One of the most important parts of Lent is almsgiving - giving to those in need. As Catholics, we are called to follow the example of Jesus, who cared for the poor, the sick, and the lonely. Through our Lenten fundraising efforts, we will be supporting CAFOD and Catholic Care, helping those in our community and beyond.
💙 “Let all that you do be done in love.” (1 Corinthians 16:14)

Why Do We Support Others During Lent?
Lent is a time for us to reflect on the sacrifice Jesus made for us. By giving to others, we live out the Gospel message:
- “Love your neighbour as yourself.” (Mark 12:31)
- “When you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” (Matthew 6:3)
Our school virtues - Gratitude, Service, Humility, and Courage - remind us that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
We invite all children and families to join us in making Lent a time of faith in action. Whether by donating, taking part in an event, or praying for those in need, every act of love brings us closer to God.
Thank you for your support!
