Mini Vinnies

Welcome to St. Joseph’s Mini Vinnies

An integral part of the Catholic life of the school are the Mini Vinnies. The Mini Vinnies are quite literally mini St. Vincent de Paul’s. They come together to help those in need within their school community. Mini Vinnies introduce children to social justice issues, to the St Vincent de Paul Society and to living faith through action.

"As a Mini Vinnie, I work with the St Vincent de Paul Charity and our local church to raise awareness and support for those in need. My role is to encourage our school community to live out our values of service, compassion, and faith by helping others. Whether it’s organising fundraisers, leading collective worship, or speaking in assemblies, I am proud to contribute to making a difference for those who need it most."

Harrogate District Foodbank 2023-24

The donations we have received so far have been phenomenal.  We are truly grateful to you all for supporting the community and for your kindness towards families in need of help.

Harvest Assembly October 2023 led by the Mini Vinnies

The newly elected President  , Vice President and Mini Vinnies led Harvest assembly. They did an amazing job.

We’ve had another eventful week! The Mini Vinnies presented a special Harvest
Assembly and explained how St Josephs will support the Harrogate District Food
Bank throughout the year. For the rest of this half term, we would really appreciate
if the whole school can bring donations of non-perishable foods, blankets, hot
water bottles, thermos flasks and/or toiletries. A volunteer from Harrogate
foodbank will regularly collect the donations.

Advent Fundraising 2023

Part of the Mini Vinnies’ role is to turn concern into action. This Advent they would like to raise money for Friends of the Holy Land. This is a charity which helps buy water, food, basic medical supplies, and other essentials for the most vulnerable people in the Holy Land. All proceeds from the Advent Fundraising Fair, the class Christmas hamper raffle and donations from the nativity and Y5 panto performances will go towards this fantastic appeal. We thank you in advance for all your donations.

LENT FUNDRAISING 2024

The Mini Vinnies have chosen the Little Sisters of the Poor in Headingley as our Lenten charity, which also aligns with St Joseph’s Parish.
They will be organising several fundraising events during Lent, including
Games Week (see attached posters). We will also be dressing up for
World Book Day and asking for a donation of £2. Raffle tickets will be
sold over the coming weeks for the Eggstravaganza which will take
place on Thursday 21st March.
